PANGAEA
PANGAEA is a leading data repository for Earth and environmental sciences, jointly operated by the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Center for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) and the Center for Marine Environmental Sciences (MARUM) at the University of Bremen.
It provides long-term archiving, publication, and dissemination of scientific data, along with professional data management services. All datasets are georeferenced, quality-controlled, and curated according to established international standards for good scientific practice and open data access.
As a certified member of the International Council for Science (ICSU) World Data System (WDS) and a CoreTrustSeal-approved repository, PANGAEA ensures that research data are preserved in secure, machine-readable formats and remain permanently accessible. Each dataset is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), making it easy to cite, share, and link data to scientific publications.
Through its commitment to open, transparent, and sustainable data management, PANGAEA plays a key role in supporting reproducible research and the long-term availability of environmental and Earth system data.
