Background & Guidelines
Between October 2025 and December 2025, researchers were invited to submit proposals for individual funding periods of up to three years, with project start dates from January 2027 onward. During this second call, proposals were open to all research vessels.
All proposals had to be written in English and submitted to the German Research Foundation (DFG) by 31 December 2025.

Statistics
The second call of the SPP 2520 Infrastructure Priority Program “Research Vessels” received a total of 44 project proposals.
Of the the 44 submitted proposals, 16 were submitted for RV Sonne, 11 for RV Polarstern, 8 for RV Meteor, 6 for RV Maria S. Merian, 2 for RV Heincke and 1 for RV Alkor.
