Background & Guidelines
Between October 2024 and January 2025, researchers were invited to submit initial proposals for individual funding periods of up to three years, with project start dates from January 2026 onward. During this first call, proposals were limited to research cruises conducted on the vessels RV MARIA S. MERIAN, RV METEOR (IV), and RV SONNE.
All proposals had to be written in English and submitted to the German Research Foundation (DFG) by 3 January 2025.

Statistics
The first call within the SPP 2520 Infrastructure Priority Program “Research Vessels” received a total of 23 project proposals. 19 of these were funded.
Of the 23 submitted proposals, 9 were submitted for RV Sonne, 7 for RV Maria S. Merian and 6 for RV Meteor.
