RV Elisabeth Mann Borgese

RV Elisabeth Mann Borgese is a coastal research vessel operated by the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde as part of the German Research Fleet. Entering service in 2011, the vessel is primarily used for oceanographic and marine ecological research in the Baltic Sea and nearby waters.

The approximately 55-m-long vessel is designed for flexible scientific operations in coastal and shelf seas. It supports research in physical oceanography, marine biology, marine chemistry, and seafloor studies. Modern hydroacoustic systems, CTD facilities, and deck equipment allow a wide range of sampling and survey activities.

RV Elisabeth Mann Borgese accommodates up to around 16 scientists in addition to a crew of about 11. Its laboratory spaces, working deck, and modern instrumentation make it an important platform for regional marine research, training cruises, and interdisciplinary field campaigns.
